On 7 August, 2001 a group of 30 Georgian and Abkhazian children arrived in Crimea for mutual rest in a first-class international camp “Artek”. The children were delivered to Simferopol by the UNOMIG aircraft.
In the context of the realization of Yalta arrangements on strengthening confidence measures between Georgian and Abkhazian sides Ukraine provided the children with 30 free vouchers for their rest in “Artek” during the YI subject session (from 7-8 until 27-28 August, 2001) in the course of which there will be held an International competition-festival of children’s and youthful creative work “Our land- Ukraine”.
On 6 August, 2001 there was Kakheti and Ivano-Frankivsk creative youth delegations exchange in the frame of the 10 anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence celebration and on the basis of Agreement on Trade, Economic and Cultural Cooperation between Ukraine’s Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and Georgia’s Kakheti Region, signed in April of 2001 by Regional Administrations Heads - Mr. M. Vyshyvanuk and Mr. B. Songulashvili.
In the delegations, consisting of 30 talented creative young people from each side there mainly are representatives of the children’s art schools, who will rest for 20 days in different regions of Kakheti (Georgia) and Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine).
At the meeting there were present Mr. B. Songulashvili, the State Representative of the President of Georgia in Kakheti Region, Ms. M. Mezvrishvili, the Head of Telavi Region Administration, Mr. I. Dovganyuk, the First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia, the deputes of the Parliament of Georgia, Kakheti regional administrations and regions leaders.
The Ukrainian aircraft AN-74 TK of the famous Zaporizhya ‘s plant “Motor Sich” left for the region of the Carpathians with the Georgian youth after dinner time that day.
The Georgian youths and girls rest program envisages acquaintance with towns, national traditions, cultural inheritance and achievements.
The delegation members are going to climb up the highest peak of the Ukrainian Carpathians – Goverla, take part in the celebrations of the 10 anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.
The Georgian-Ukrainian interregional cooperation picks up speed.
